My hearty dreams are diminishing when Autumn is coming
As the leaves are tremblingly aging and passing memories are fading
Our love is broken along with the fate of home country
And the sky turns dark as a flowery life is broken shatteringly

I remember that old day in the fiery fighting summer
You set aside the study and put on the uniform of a soldier
As I closed up the memorial diary which buried our first love together
And bid farewell to the departing person in embraced longing forever

Then one afternoon I just simply departed and went away
To be distant from the homeland burying the fresh prime age
And as I am staying in strangers’ land carrying the gnawing longing
And staying up late dreaming about the traveller as the lamp is burning

Autumn is still coming and going, oh the ruthless autumn
An undetermined destination floating soul is what I carry on my person
Memories are fading and love is fallen so painfully

I continue pacing carefully through the old walkways

To find the corner sky that houses the “Spring of the old days”

So many times the eyes are soaked with rains that freeze

My solitary soul at the time of New Year’s Eve

There are no longer the times of the warm spring days

Even the room immersed with memories of the naïve age

While in the distant sky coldness are coming in days so constant

Ochna flowers not blooming and Spring is not in with arrangement

Time is passing by along with the feeling of growing self-embarrassment

Exhausted strength cannot endure the fate of severe situations

Adversary climate just saddens the streets’ nights

What can I find when my heart feels like it is falling by

You have left me to go to distant sky so far, far away

As stars are falling in the highlands and no firecrackers for the day

My fellow soldiers in great numbers orderly leave me to go away

so in this life there only left the opposite of “Spring of the old days”

In the coming spring it’s about time to reincarnate, to note

Please promise me that you would come back through the old loving road!

Or admiring Bắc Hương on Lê Lợi Street in my visitation
But why it feels like there is something being attached to me all the time
Probably an image of somebody that is lingering continuously in my mind

I have never once visited roads in mountainous regions
The white dresses are still flying in Pleiku while it shows its compassion
At disperse after school in the afternoon feeling awkward in hand clasping
The sweet ice cream cup in its farewell bidding time is burning in its tasting

I have never once visited roads in mountainous regions
The traveller’s shadow travels far and in haste in all my life’s continuation
I am pitying regretfully for my fresh youth that is so dreamy
Trying to last it by remembering to hold it tight in the veins of my body

I have never once visited roads in mountainous regions
So at least once to complete the old dream in its fulfillment
And as my spirit is sinking deep into the falls pouring down in continuation

Just like so many previous Christmas seasons that have been passing
I have been searching, thinking I could find that old season in my looking
Amid the prayers I have been submitting to Heaven high above
Perhaps it has not been sufficient for God to consider and to know
O my Love, why is it that you have been bestirring yourself
That has not helped in making the going on the road to happiness so well
And now as the lamp is burning unsteadily and lonely at night

The Midnight Prayer Of Noel 2021

Christmas has come back once more here and there
Yet my heart is troubled and what a heavy burden I have to bear
The shadow of darkness has been covering the world all over
May God in His mercy grant us the peaceful grace is my prayer
I pray that the sky will be clear blue and bright
And the world will be covered all over by a happy life
I am grateful to the Heavenly Lord of Magnificence
Who has lifted away my yoke of sorrows and my lamentation
Amen!

The Fragrance Of Night Dancing by Kim Oanh

The moonbeam seems to be half doting and half wallowing
While the cool wind timidly flows through the garden that is deserting
From someone who is so far away in distant land under layers of cloud
In strangers’ land sorrows are borne and joys are buried and not aroused
My mind has been determinedly set in its situation
And the memory realm is illuminated by sitting position in meditation
Across the porch the moonbeam seems to be touched and shaken lightly
By someone’s shadow passing the veranda’s green hibiscus bush faintly
The sky blue dress flap is swaying during its motion so lightly
In the rainbow costume and dance while embracing so peacefully
The lulling dream is so overflowing with happiness so full too
That carries me to the intoxicated realm, doting on with you
Then the dream is flickering and diminishing suddenly
Only the lovingly embracing fragrance is lingering densely and fully.
